Originally from Georgetown, Prince Edward Island, Melanie received her law degree from the University of New Brunswick (2006), where she graduated on the Dean’s list. During law school, Melanie co-chaired the UNB Articling and Placement Committee and was awarded the Allen Earle Scholarship, the New Brunswick Law Foundation Scholarship, the Prince Edward Island Law Foundation Scholarship, and the Justice Mark A. MacGuigan Memorial Award.
Melanie also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from the University of Prince Edward Island (2001) and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University (2003).
Melanie was called to the bar in Prince Edward Island (2007) and Alberta (2007), and is preparing to be called to the bar in Nova Scotia in the Spring of 2011.
Melanie lives in New Glasgow, along with her husband Patrick and their son, Riley
